1. Science. Science and Origins. Models.  Sources for Scientific Models and History of Science.

INTRODUCTION. The place to start any study of Origins in this present day has to be by looking at SCIENCE and how the understanding of present day science is related to understanding the past, and how science has changed through history. Science, science and origins, models, sources for scientific  models and history of science are combined in this study because of the significance of science in our present day world. Science in its most effective state seeks to study the physical world, offer explanations for particular observations and use that information to provide useful manipulation of aspects of the physical world for the benefit of humankind and the environment. Over time scientists have tendered to become more inclusive by offering explanations about origins and to further include explanations for things which cannot be observed, and so science becomes scientism. To do this there are a number of areas where MODELS have been formed to explain much for which direct observations in the present time cannot be made. It is good and wise that people realise this aspect of present day science and to be able to discern between repeatable science and the imaginings of many in developing their models.

When dealing with multiple beliefs which humans hold about issues where no clear cut belief can be held, particularly about origins, the methodology used when dealing with the topics is to present the various beliefs, and by comparing them, the enquirer can choose which is the most reasonable to believe if they so desire. This should be the aim of all general education and an ongoing process through life as more evidence comes to light which supports one belief over another.

2. The Origin of the Universe.

INTRODUCTION. Humans, as compared to animals, are more aware of their environment, and to them, the UNIVERSE exists. There have been age old questions for mankind about how it came to exist, what is its purpose, if any, and what is mankind’s  place and purpose, corporately and individually as a part of it. Setting aside knowledge of stories and legends or religious views, or even our present scientific explanations, but from REASONING alone, it should be possible to arrive at an explanation for the existence of the universe. Questions which arise through observing aspects of the universe at the present time should be able to be explained. By taking all this into consideration and then by examining what humans have arrived at in the past to answer the question about the universe’s existence we should be able to arrive at  the most probable answer to the question. Most people would assume that it is difficult to explain the existence of the universe. It is not difficult and everyone is capable of comprehending the limited number of alternative explanations, and ultimately make a judgement as to which explanation is the most acceptable.

3. Evolutionary Science. Can there be a Creation Science?

The current ‘Big Bang’ Evolutionary Model provides the paradigm against just about all modern cultural thinking. That is, many answers to the big questions about origins and the history of everything is explained within an evolutionary or naturalistic framework. Although there is still a problem with the idea of a ‘first cause’. This has not always been the case, as up until the late seventeen and into the eighteen hundreds, a Creationist paradigm pervaded Western culture. We can trace the development of the Evolutionary or naturalistic model from early Greek thinking  and although science has developed from within a Biblical Creationist mindset the current Evolutionary Model is regarded as being scientific and a Creationist Model is religious. By applying the same reasoning to the Hebrew culture based on the Bible it is possible to emphatically say that there can be Creation Science.

4. Creation – Evolution Overview.

On the basis that it is possible to describe the evolutionary and creationist ways of looking at origins and history by developing models, they can now be examined on a comparative basis to see the different ways of explaining both models, and how the interpretation of the same ‘scientific’ observations are made from these two ways of believing.

5. The Evolution or Naturalistic Model of Origins. Evidence used to support the Evolutionary Model.

Although many of the early Greek philosophers proposed what could be considered an evolutionary model to explain the various life forms on earth, the present day Evolutionary or Naturalistic Model developed over the last 400 years. There has been a gradual development of the model because a Biblical Creation Model was so entrenched in the thinking of western culture due to the influence of Christianity that there were a number of foundational issues which first needed to be undermined. The history of science shows that science developed because from within a Creator based belief system with its time restraints, some men wanted to explain the naturalistic world through naturalistic processes with no supernatural influence. Gradually it became accepted by those in control of many areas of human study, that the time restraints would not be sufficient if processes acting in the world today have acted over its entire history. Hence the removal of the catastrophic global flood of Noah’s time and the need to explain all the sedimentary rocks which must have been laid down over an enormous amount of time. Coupled with the development of the Geological Column and the finding of massive numbers of fossils with the suggestion that life forms changed over time, the Evolutionary Model developed.

16. The Pre-flood Earth.

17.  Noah’s Flood.

INTRODUCTION. According to current wisdom, the naturalistic explanation of history, there was no such event as a global flood in the time of the Biblical Noah. All that has occurred through the history of planet earth is a series of local floods such as would occur today. From a Creation Science position and based on the authority of Jesus Christ from certain statement He is reported as having said in the Gospel writings, a global flood did occur in the days of Noah and is recorded in the Book of Genesis. This record is one of many from the various stories from many cultures around the world. This topic deals with some of the stories, and an examination of the Genesis record which overall seems to be the best description of this global event. It provides details of why the flood occurred, the size of an ark, length of the flood period and the history of mankind after the flood. It also gives global evidence that the surface of the earth has been rapidly transformed in a way that only water could have brought about, in a short time. It looks at fossil remains which indicate rapid burial a relatively short time ago.

18.  Post-Flood Earth.

19.  Earth History. Documentation and Interpretation.

20.  A Young Earth. Is it a possibility?

INTRODUCTION. Because the prevailing paradigm in which all human endeavour is undertaken is based upon the Evolutionary Model of origins, the passing of time from the beginning is indicated only by methods which give the longest time. For example, radioactive decay of certain elements. In comparison, within a Biblical Creation paradigm as well as giving an explanation for radioactive decay which is not related to the passing of time, it has been determined that there are over thirty methods which seem to indicate that the universe and earth could be relatively young compared to the methods used within the Evolutionary Model. These indicators of the passing of time seem to be in harmony with the straight forward reading of the Bible as history.

24.  Radioactive Decay. Its Nature and Interpretation as to What it could mean.

25.  Dinosaurs. When did they Live and How did they Die?

INTRODUCTION. When the remains of many creatures began to be discovered as fossils in rocks all over the earth, with some of them being extremely large and not existing at the time of the discovery, the term ‘dinosaur’ was used to describe these creatures. As museums put some of these remains on display and artists and sculptors added ‘flesh’ to the bones it became apparent what some of these creatures may have looked like. There are many resources available which give the possible appearance and description of dinosaurs and a possible reason for their extinction. The majority are from an evolutionary perspective. This section compares a Biblical Creationist explanation of the extinction of the dinosaurs and other life forms, and explains how original soft tissue can be found in some fossils which are supposed to be millions of years old.

26.  Ape Men. Interpretation of the Fossil Finds.

INTRODUCTION. With an increase in evolutionary thinking as a result of  Charles Darwin’s ‘Origin of Species’, and the promotion of it by T. H. Huxley, fossils of what appeared to be primitive ape like creatures were interpreted as human ancestors. This gave rise to the concept of ‘APE MEN’. Museums added to the promotion of this concept by having exhibitions speculating on how they looked and lived. This section compares both evolutionary and Biblical Creationist interpretation of the evidence.
